FIRE PROTECTION UPGRADING FOR TIMBER

Building regulations have various fire ratings which may need to be achieved. The most common are ‘class 1’ or ‘class 0’ spread of flame, but architects or building control will sometimes ask for higher ratings, such 30 or 60-minute coating systems to be applied.

CASE STUDY

We completed a timber frame fire protection project at a Grade II listed barn near Bury St Edmunds. The Grade II property required all internal timber walls, ceilings and beams to meet class 0 spread of flame, in line with building control regulations. We worked to a tight deadline, completing the project in just 3 days. The end result was a stunning clear matt finish, providing fully certified class 0 spread of flame.
