Industrial Flat Roof Repair at Birds Eye Factory
The flat roof above the evaporation room at the Birds Eye factory in Lowestoft had a number of problems. The existing felt coating had large cracks and splits throughout the surface, which were causing water ingress into the factory below. There were areas of heavy vegetation growth and significant damage to the concrete structure.
As part of our industrial flat roof repair service, we not only applied a new flat roof coating, but carried out other necessary remedial work, including:
- Pressure washing to remove all moss, algae and other vegetation
- Removal of concrete sills around the bottom of service machinery
- Masonry repairs to edges and up-stand
There were a number of difficult to access areas such as underneath air conditioning systems and other services, as well as issues with pipework, which was constantly dripping onto the roof. These problems provided a number of obstacles that needed to be addressed during the preparation and coating process.
A coating specification was provided by one of our preferred coating manufacturers, Tor-Coatings and the work was checked by a Tor-Coatings technical paint inspector at all stages of the job.
Despite a challenging level of repair, the work was completed successfully, using Tor-Coatings Elastaseal Z coating system with an anti-slip finish, providing a 25-year warranty, and peace of mind for Birds Eye that the long term integrity of the roof was secure.
