CAR PARK PAINTING
We recently completed a car park painting project at Trinity Street, Norwich. The basement car park for this new build apartment block needed all the steel columns and beams coated with an intumescent coating system. In addition to this, we were asked to carry out the floor painting and car park line marking of the bays.
INTUMESCENT COATING OF STEEL BEAMS
All exposed steel members were pre-primed and coated with Sherwin Williams FX5062 & FX5090 intumescent coating and finished with Sherwin Williams Acrolon C137V2 topcoat. This was carried out in accordance with steel loading report & specification provided by Sherwin Williams to achieve 60-minute fire rating. The client requested that the steels were finished in a dark grey, with safety yellow around the bottom of the columns for visibility purposes.
CAR PARK FLOOR PAINTING
The second phase of the project was the car park floor coating, which had been used as a storage area for plant and building materials for the site during construction. We began by diamond grinding the tamped concrete floor to remove all contamination and create an even, open concrete profile.
RUBBER FLOOR COATING
We then applied Bradite CF22 Chlorinated rubber floor coating in light grey, in accordance with the manufacturers specification. During this process, we left area the parking bay area uncoated so that we could later apply thermoplastic numbers and car charging point logos.
CAR PARK LINE MARKING
The thermoplastic numbers and logos were then applied by blowtorch before the parking bays were finished in the same floor coating system, but in a contrasting deep blue for the numbered bays, and green for the car charging bays. The final result is an attractive car park for the residents, with the safety of fire protection to all the exposed steels.
