CLADDING RESPRAY
Mirus make Formula 1 inspired aircraft seats. Their factory is on the site previously occupied by the Caterham Technology and Innovation, which closed in November 2014. The building was in desperate need of a cladding respray. It had previously been poorly painted and the existing coating was badly peeling.
We came up with a solution to strip all of the failing coating with a specialist spray applied paint stripper. This would dissolve the existing cladding coating before the application of the new coating system.
PAINT STRIP
We applied several test patches to ensure we used the most effective product for the job. After masking all areas and fixings not to be treated, we spray applied the sodium hydroxide paint stripper and allowed it to work overnight. The following day, we pressure washed it all off, using tarpaulins all around the building to ensure we caught the waste. The surrounding areas were then all thoroughly cleaned to ensure no trace of paint stripper or paint were left.
CLADDING COATING
Once the old cladding coating had been removed, we began the process of respraying all the cladding on the 1500m2 building. After masking all windows and doors to prevent overspray, we sprayed the entire building with one coat of primer, followed by 2 coats of top coat (RAL 7001 – Squirrel grey).
WINDOW RESPRAY
We didn’t just carry out cladding spraying – we also stripped and resprayed all the windows, revolving doors and associated soffits to further complete the renovation of the building.
The coatings applied to the wall cladding and roller doors are guaranteed to be free from peeling, blistering and cracking for a minimum of 10 years.
